TAYLOR BLACK ANNOUNCED AS CIRCUS' NEW INTERN!

We are delighted to introduce Taylor Black as our next Circus intern. Although the Covid-19 pandemic has paused our in person programme, it provides an opportunity for Circus to work remotely with an intern from outwith Inverness. Currently based in Fort William, Taylor has a diverse practice which allows him to interpret personal moments; capturing a specific feeling or energy can take various forms from fashion design, digital graphics, photography or video.
Taylor has a strong interest in facilitating creative experiences for a broad range of communities. Previously he was employed by youth-arts organisation Room 13 international, Fort William for a 5 month internship (2018 - 2019), assisting with delivering workshops and visits for primary and high schools. Taylor lead on their Glenfest Project designing and screen-printing t-shirts and hoodies with a group of local young people, he also delivered a mark-making workshop for a group of 12 children where they created their own mark making tools from recycling and reusing 'trash'.
Circus are delighted to be supporting Taylor to develop a new project where he will create a new collection and co-ordinate a fashion show as part of the Circus Zine Fest in June 2021.

"Throughout this past year of being locked indoors, I really explored my creative boundaries and pushed myself to the limits in terms of what I can do and what I have taught myself. Throughout this I truly realised the passion and need I have to create and be involved in the creative community.
I am excited to connect with like minded people during this internship and to be developing a personal project in which I will, once again, be pushing my creativity into waters I've not yet explored. I feel lucky to have been selected for such a great opportunity like this.” Taylor Black

Since studying textiles at West Highland College UHI, Taylor has spent a month learning traditional art & textiles techniques in a Slovakian Art School (2019) as well as undertaking an internship with Nonchalant fashion house in Torlundy (2020 - 2021). He is currently completing a project for Highland Youth Arts Hub, having received their Creative in your Community award, which brings together his interests in fashion and mental health to develop a collection of t-shirts and regular community art and wellbeing sessions (once Covid-19 guidelines allow workshops to commence).
