A documentary project created in collaboration between photographer Evija Laivina and Brandon Gunn, a young man who suffers from SMART syndrome, a rare condition which can develop after radiation therapy.

This project was developed as part of the Highland Culture Collective and Circus Artspace are delighted to be hosting the final presentation of the work within our temporary space on the Carsegate Road, Inverness.

At the heart of this exhibition lies the interplay between art and the lived experiences of those affected by this rare condition. Evija Laivina’s documentary photographs provide an intimate glimpse into the daily struggles, triumphs, and moments of vulnerability faced by individuals with SMART. Brandon Gunn’s poetic and ethereal flower images, infused with meticulous attention to detail, symbolize the universal language of hope.
