LONELY ARTS CLUB

"Our Lonely Arts Club was formed at the end of 2016, after a friend and I moved home from university in other cities and wanted to meet other creatives but weren’t sure where they all were. We knew there were local people making all kinds of work but it seemed like until the new Wasps studios opened there wouldn’t be a way to meet each other, or a place to come together to plan exhibitions or collaborations. We made posters to say that we’d be at Velocity on a Sunday for a cup of tea and a chat and a small group of about six people showed up on the first day."

Lonely Arts Club is an informal social for artists, designers & makers - a chance to escape busy schedules or quiet studios and talk creativity for an afternoon. From December 2018 to December 2019, Circus hosted 13 monthly meet-ups with invited speakers at the Wasps’ Inverness Creative Academy as well as supported the production of a quarterly members' zine.

The club has grown with nearly 440+ members sharing their projects on our Facebook group and approximately 30 people attending the monthly meetings.

As of January 2020 we hand the club over to new organisers and would like to thank all the members for their support during our first year.
