Collaborating with young people from communities along the Great Glen, our Inland Navigation project was supported by Historic Environment Scotland and explored sites on the Caledonian Canal and the waters it connects.
Circus Artspace artists: Richard Bracken, Nicola Gear and Lorna Campbell, worked with young people from diverse backgrounds through community partnerships with Connecting Young Carers and SNAP.
Completed in 1822, the Caledonian Canal will be 200 years old in 2022. Just as the canal links Inverness in the East and Fort William in the West, our project involved young people living in Inverness, Fort Augustus and Fort William. Communities that lie along the Great Glen have their own unique relationships with each section of the canal and we hope to explore each place's geology, economics, ecology, history, engineering, architecture and more.
Artworks were displayed at Urquhart Castle in Summer 2022.
